EAL 603/2625/6 - Level 3 Award in Electrical Installation Inspection, Testing, Certification and Reporting is a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) which offers an opportunity for those who wish to further their career in the electrotechnical sector.

Suitable for learners 16-18 and 19+, this is a combined award and covers both initial verification and periodic inspection and testing of single and three phase low voltage electrical installations.

The objective of the EAL Inspection and Testing Course is to give you a good understanding of the theory and practices required to do both a periodic inspection and initial verification, and commissioning of electrical installations.

  • General requirements of initial verification and periodic testing
  • Health and safety requirements
  • Safe isolation
  • Periodic inspection of electrical installations
  • Dead testing
  • Live testing
  • Interpretation of test results
  • Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)

Entry requirements

Learners must be practising electricians who have completed an apprenticeship/NVP or technical diploma to at least Level 3.

  • Your name and address
  • Your National Insurance number
  • A passport-sized photograph
  • Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
  • A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
  • First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
