The Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) is the industry recognised route for engineers to gain a certificate of competence, which is needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Only members of the Gas Safe Register can work with gas in the UK.
You need to achieve your ACS certificate(s) in the areas of work in which you want to be registered.
PEB1 certification is designed to assess the gas safety competence of an engineer repositioning, altering or extending the Protective Equipotential Bonding (PEB) conductor when changing the position of gas meters.
This assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative intending to extend the work range from natural gas to liquefied petroleum gas in both domestic and commercial permanent dwellings.

- Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation
- Electrical installations
- Repositioning, alteration and extensions of PEB
- Safe isolation
- Material selection
- Testing
Entry requirements
Learners will need to hold a valid:
- Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) certificate; or
- Specific Core for Domestic Meter Installers (Natural Gas) (CMA1) certificate or Gas Safety in Core Domestic Metering Work (CMA3) certificate; or
- Core Emergency Service Provider (Natural Gas) (CESP1) certificate or Core LPG Permanent Dwellings (CCLP1-PD) certificate; or
- Equivalent NVQ or QCF qualification

You will need to bring with you:
- Your name and address
- Your National Insurance number
- A passport-sized photograph
- Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
- A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
- First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
