Information

The Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) is the industry recognised route for engineers to gain a certificate of competence, which is needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Only members of the Gas Safe Register can work with gas in the UK.

You need to achieve your ACS certificate(s) in the areas of work in which you want to be registered.

Re-assessment can take place any time in the six months prior to certificate expiry. It is down to the engineer to ensure they are re-assessed during this time.

Failure to hold current evidence of competence will result in suspension or removal from the Gas Safe Register, so it is essential to keep your ACS qualifications up to date.

The COCN1 course qualifies you in Core Commercial Gas Safety and includes the taking the ICPN1, TPCP1A and TPCP1 qualifications at the same time to enable you to work on specific appliances/equipment/pipework.

• Re-establishing appliance gas supplies
• Gas rates & pressures
• Gas controls
• Unsafe situations
• ICPN1 - Installation of commercial pipework
• TPCP1A - Strength Testing, Tightness Testing & Purging, not exceeding 16bar pressure
• TPCP1 - Strength Testing, Tightness Testing & Purging, not exceeding 1m cubed

• Your National Insurance number
• A passport-sized photograph
• Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
• A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
• First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
