Information
These courses aim to help plumbers and heating engineers who want to install unvented domestic hot water storage systems to comply with the appropriate Building Regulations and Standards. Achieving this certificate will demonstrate their competence so they can either join a Competent Persons’ Scheme allowing the self-certification of installations, or to notify the local Building Control department prior to commencing work.
The course starts with intensive training in the four modules, followed by the completion of three assessments including one practical.
Certificates are valid for 5 years. Candidates are eligible for reassessment within 12 months of expiry.
Entry requirements
Learners will need to hold:
- A recognised trade qualification (eg NVQ/SNVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating or Domestic Heating); or
- Be working towards one; or
- Have evidence of a number of year's experience in the plumbing or heating industry

- Your name and address
- Your National Insurance number
- A passport-sized photograph
- Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
- A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
- First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
