Introducing National Apprenticeship Week

10 Feb 2025

Molly Alsworth, Manager at our Oxford Energy Academy shares her thoughts on National Apprenticeship Week and how we help people to begin a sustainable career in energy skills.

"We’re excited to be celebrating National Apprenticeship Week. We’re incredibly proud of all our apprentices, whether they’re currently working through our apprenticeship training or an alumni growing their experience in the trade.

Energy skills is a fast-growing sector and there is high demand for electricians, plumbers and heating technicians. Apprenticeships offer a solution, with most being 100% or 95% funded, they help young people to move into a sustainable career and businesses to grow at little or no cost.

At OEA, we have been offering apprenticeship training for 11 years and are delighted to have helped over 200 people begin their careers in energy skills. We’re fortunate that our learners often return to our training academies to reassess or upskill allowing us to follow their progress as we continue to support them throughout their careers.

With the opening of the East Anglia Energy Academy in 2024, we have extended our apprenticeship training to East Anglia and the surrounding areas, helping more young people and employers access high quality apprenticeship training.

We hope you’ll join us this week in celebrating our apprentices and those that support them to succeed."
