An environmental policy is an agreed documented statement of Oxford Energy Academy Ltd's stance towards the environment in which it operates.

Introduction

The policy is the cornerstone of Oxford Energy Academy Ltd's intent to reduce its carbon footprint, improve recycling, reduce reliance on packaging, minimising waste, and improve efficiencies on finite natural resources in all the company's operations.

All environmental commitments should be an integral part of the day-to-day activities, clearly communicated to all employees.

Oxford Energy Academy Ltd is committed to minimising the environmental impact of its operations through the adoption of sustainable practices and continual improvement in environmental performance.

Application

Oxford Energy Academy Ltd accepts the Duty of Care imposed by legislation as the minimum standard to be set and maintained, and we aim to develop a sustainable business that is financially viable, environmentally sustainable and socially equitable.

In order to achieve this Oxford Energy Academy Ltd will observe the following practices:

  • Be conscious of the environment beyond our immediate operations and to take steps to prevent pollution and to minimise environmental harm and nuisance
  • Monitor and comply with legislation, regulations and codes of practice on environmental matters relevant to Oxford Energy Academy Ltd's operations
  • Build an environmentally friendly work culture through training and high-quality communication with staff and learners
  • Monitor, review and continually improve our environmental performance
  • Be proactive in minimising our production of waste and reusing or recycling materials
  • Develop sustainable supply chains by using suppliers wherever appropriate that have environmental standards compatible with our own and to implement an Ethical Purchasing Policy
  • Work in partnership with external companies to develop our corporate social responsibility, when appropriate

Objectives

Specific objectives Oxford Energy Academy Ltd will focus on include:

  • Minimising the environmental impact of business travel
  • Reducing the consumption of resources such as paper, plastic, copper pipework and other workshop materials
  • Minimising the volume of waste generated and maximise reuse, recycling and energy recovery from waste
  • Reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and incorporate long-term strategies for energy efficiency into planning and development
  • Oxford Energy Academy Lt has installed PV Panels to supply electricity and Air Source Heat Pumps to supply heat for the building
  • Continually reassessing changing technology, business requirements and best environmental practices
  • Training and educating our learners
