Information
The Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) is the industry recognised route for engineers to gain a certificate of competence, which is needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Only members of the Gas Safe Register can work with gas in the UK.
You need to achieve your ACS certificate(s) in the areas of work in which you want to be registered.
The CoCDN1 course will allow you to convert your Core Commercial Gas Safety to Core Domestic Gas Safety. Once completed you will be eligible to complete domestic appliance assessments.

- Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation
- Combustion
- Ventilation
- Flueing
- Gas pipework
- Tightness testing
- Purging
- Re-establishing appliance gas supplies
- Gas rates & pressures
- Gas controls
- Emergency actions and valves
- Unsafe situations
Entry requirements
Learners will need to hold a valid:
- Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1) certificate; or
- Core Commercial Catering Gas Safety (CCCN1) certificate; or
- Core Commercial Gas Laundry Safety (CCLNG1)
For re-assessment learners must have held the element previously - if this has expired more than 12 months before the assessment date then initial assessment must be undertaken.
Details
You will need to bring with you:
- Your name and address
- Your National Insurance number
- A passport-sized photograph
- Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
- A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
- First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
