Information

The Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) is the industry recognised route for engineers to gain a certificate of competence, which is needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Only members of the Gas Safe Register can work with gas in the UK.

You need to achieve your ACS certificate(s) in the areas of work in which you want to be registered.

CMET1 certification is designed to assess the gas safety competence of an engineer working with commercial low pressure diaphragm and rotary meters.

Areas covered:

  • Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation
  • Checking the installation site
  • Types of meter boxes and housings
  • The gas connection and meter outlet
  • Securing the meter correctly
  • Ventilation requirements
  • Tightness testing
  • Operating pressures
  • Commissioning and testing the meter
  • Labelling the meter

Entry requirements

Learners will need to hold a valid:

  • Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) certificate; or
  • Specific Core for Domestic Meter Installers (Natural Gas) (CMA1) certificate; or
  • Core Emergency Service Provider (Natural Gas) (CESP1) certificate

  • Your name and address
  • Your National Insurance number
  • A passport-sized photograph
  • Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
  • A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
  • First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
