Information
The Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) is the industry recognised route for engineers to gain a certificate of competence, which is needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Only members of the Gas Safe Register can work with gas in the UK.
You need to achieve your ACS certificate(s) in the areas of work in which you want to be registered.
CMA1 certification is designed to assess the competence of a gas engineer to install, exchange, commission, disconnect, service and repair natural gas meters.
Areas covered:
- Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation
- Checking the installation site
- Types of meter boxes and housings
- The gas connection and meter outlet
- Securing the meter correctly
- Ventilation requirements
- Tightness testing
- Operating pressures
- Commissioning and testing the meter
- Labelling the meter
Entry requirements
Learners will need to hold a valid:
- Core Domestic LPG Safety (CCLP1) certificate; or
- Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) certificate; or
- Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1) certificate; or
- Core Commercial Catering Gas Safety (CCCN1) certificate; or
- Core Commercial Gas Laundry Safety (CCLNG1) certificate
Details
You will need to bring with you:
- Your name and address
- Your National Insurance number
- A passport-sized photograph
- Copies of relevant qualifications and/or evidence of work experience
- A declaration of the category for the individual making the application
- First-time applicants will also be required to provide an acceptable form of photographic identification e.g. a passport or driving licence
