CCN1 - Core Domestic Gas Safety

Duration:
3 days
Category:
Gas - Domestic

Information

The Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS) is the industry recognised route for engineers to gain a certificate of competence, which is needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. Only members of the Gas Safe Register can work with gas in the UK.

You need to achieve your ACS certificate(s) in the areas of work in which you want to be registered.

Re-assessment can take place any time in the six months prior to certificate expiry. It is down to the engineer to ensure they are re-assessed during this time.

Failure to hold current evidence of competence will result in suspension or removal from the Gas Safe Register, so it is essential to keep your ACS qualifications up to date.

The CCN1 course qualifies you in Core Domestic Gas Safety. Once this is completed, you can take any assessments relevant to your work.

Areas covered:

  • Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation
  • Combustion
  • Ventilation
  • Flueing
  • Gas pipework
  • Appliance tightness testing
  • Purging
  • Re-establishing appliance gas supplies
  • Gas rates & pressures
  • Gas controls
  • Unsafe situations

Entry requirements

Learners must satisfy the entry requirements defined by the Assessment Scheme Rules (Category 1, 2 and 3).

  • Category 1 learners are experienced gas engineers who already hold a relevant qualification. They may be renewing an existing ACS certificate or a certificate that has expired in the past 12 months.
  • Category 2 learners can undertake ACS assessment if they can demonstrate evidence of a recognised qualification in a trade associated with gas work, for example, plumbing, and that they have ‘on-the-job’ experience under direct supervision of a Gas Safe Registered and competent operative.
  • Category 3 learners are new entrants to the gas industry, and need further qualifications and/or experience before they can undertake the ACS assessment.

We offer a Gas Foundation Managed Learning Programme (GGFO) for all new entrants. Once this course has been successfully completed, applicants can move on to ACS assessment.

For re-assessment learners must have held the element previously - if this has expired more than 12 months before the assessment date then initial assessment must be undertaken.
